About Lexi

Delexia “Lexi” Powell was born and raised on the south side of Chicago. She was a scholar, athlete, musician, dancer, singer, computer nerd and writer in her youth. Having been a product of the various gifted programs of the Chicago Public Schools system, she decided to attend Southern Illinois University at Carbondale and major in her love, Computer Science. Just like most people, she was raised that you are supposed to “go to school, get good grades, and get a good job”.

She returned to Chicago and began her career working for companies such as Chicago Tribune, AT&T Advertising Solutions and ReachLocal, but quickly realized that she was not living the life of her dreams. She began a traditional business during her employment with the Chicago Tribune, MsChiGyrl Web Hosting, a website hosting and design firm, which she continued to operate for 8 years. After being laid off, she knew that having a backup plan for employment was her only option. As a single mother to a gifted son, she knew that she wanted to show him that there was more to life than the daily grind to which she had become accustomed.

She very quickly learned that self-employment in a traditional business would always feel like having a 2nd job, so she continued to be open to other options. After a fortuitous call from a friend about a new concept that was going viral around the world, she found something that has completely changed her life. More rapidly than ever before, she is building the lifestyle of her dreams and has decided to create this site as a means to share that experience. This site will give you a glimpse into the struggles and triumphs of building a dream lifestyle, along with motivation to keep chasing your dreams and achieving your goals, no matter what they may be.
